if you were running for president you could make sure your brother who is governor took care of things by hiring a computer databse company to purge 90,000 African-Americans
off of Florida's voting rolls. then its easy to win.

That's true Steve...It does always help to have younger brothers at your beckon call....Thankfully, though fruitlessly, the Gore folks did their best to offset that by filing a litigation to block overseas absentee ballots from over 100,000 military personnel serving abroad.

were those the ballots postmarked after the election?
well no worries Larry. The GOP has the Presidency, the Supreme Court, the House and Senate, most governorships, and state legislatures. They got the power. Even though more Americans voted for either the liberal candidates, Gore and Nader (51%)than they did for the two conservatives Bush and Buchannan (49%). And most Americans tend to be on the liberal side of issues-pro-choice, take care of the environment, spend more on education, reduce defense spending...but yet the GOP is able to saty in power. And how have they done with that power? Have you compared your mutual funds to how they were in 1998? Are we more secure now? Have we got that evildoer in the cave yet?
And then the beauty of the Republicans-is when something goes wrong they can still.....(drumroll please)...Blame Clinton.

Actually Steve, when something goes wrong, I don't blame Bill; I blame Hillary....Just kidding. Really.

Seriously, I actually vote both sides of the aisle (though it's true I pick more Repubs over Dems). It may surprise my Republican family that I voted for Clinton versus Dole, BUT I could not support Gore versus Bush #2. (Never liked Al Bore.) Ironically, as much as Hillary rubs me wrong, I voted for her over Lazio in the NY Senator role because I knew she'd do the job. And she has. So I guess the best way to describe me is fiscally conservative and socially liberal. Sort of like The Governator of Callyfornya and even Bush #1.

As for my mutual funds and stocks, they are actually doing better than 1998. But I don't blame or thank government. (In fact, I rarely give Govt. credit or blame for anything since we vote for these comedians, even though we just had the best quarterly fiscal performance in the past 20 years.) As for my investments, the nod still goes to prudent & conservative decisions that paid off. Lucky me.

Now all that aside, my mind isn't made up on voting for Dubya a second time. It depends on who runs against him -- because he's lost some leadership luster (even though I was impressed with his Baghdad trip). If not Bush again, then I could vote for Lieberman (though he has a snowball's chance in hell) or Clark (though he might scare some people). Gephardt is okay too, but Kerry and Edwards are too slick. Dean is, well, he's the candidate for the 20-something crowd and that's not me and it's not the majority of the country, despite Dean's PR push. Sharpton, Kucinich and Mosley-Braun are purely in the race for ego and will not win a single primary, not even those in their home states.

Prediction: Clark will win the Dem primaries and pick Hillary as his Veep. Then Cheney will "willingly" step down due to age and health, and Bush will select a kinder/gentler Republican in Guiliani to be his Veep mate. That'll polarize the conservatives, but not too much since they see Rudy as an American hero. As for the presidential race, it'll be another deadheat....with the vote being decided in ..... Rhode Island. Bush will win (because by then, Saddam will be living in Levonworth Kansas), thereby setting up Rudy to succeed Dubya when Hillary decides to run in 2008.

So, there you have it; no need to pay attention to all this again until then.
