indeed.
He did write his own songs and did influence a generation of rockers ( only because his songs were easy to play and easy to sing ) but 'better than Elvis ?'
He was a nerdly looking geek. Elvis was COOL. He had the look, the attitude and stage presence.
Buddy's voice was weak at best. Elvis could sing.
Buddy died too early so we'll never know what he would have gone on to do. He could just have been another Eddie Cochran for all we know.
I don't remember The Fonz ever trying to look like Buddy Holly. He did emulate The King, as well as James Dean.
