Re: Klunkers by Paul
The lead off of Press to Play (yes, this is from the stunk era, 1986 or something close to that) is called "Stranglehold". When I first heard that I thought "Wow, Paul's covering Ted Nugent!" I later learned how regrettably wrong I was....

Re: Klunkers by Paul
I just got a copy of the very first of the infamous University shows - Hull University 2/11/72. It''s not nearly as bad as every one always said it was. Actually in all reality, while the recording is bad the music is really good!
I'll tell you though - it's not your typical Paulie - it's pretty raw, bluesy, and even improvised in places! It's a side of the Paulster that the world had not seen since the cavern and would not ever see again. One gets the feeling that Henry McCullough is actaully not just "playing" the lead but is taking the lead in the improvising, another thing that was never to happen again, leading to Henry's eventual exit from Wings.
But on that day Henry carried the day well, and Paul fell in right behind admirably. Another reason why Paul loves to downplay that show and keep it off topic and out of circulation.

thats what I liked about the George 74 tour...different arrangements and some jazzy jams. hopefully some day we'll get an official release of that tour.

Re: Klunkers by Paul
I am not sure why I am responding as I do not have the book. A long time ago I had to quit buying everything Beatles related that came out as it was hard enough just getting the new music and the few real special things that were released. Still think it is sad that yoko and pete Best have more books about them than Ringo does.
Who is your fave eskimo, Cheborneck or Nanook??

Re: Klunkers by Paul
But it gets never ending airplay during the Holidays while ringo gets none. 'Wonderful Christmas time' just needs some of the blaring edges smoothed off and it is a nice song.

Re: Klunkers by Paul
I agree, Wonderful Christmastime could be a good song, but it needs better production (less keyboard maybe?)
