Re: Christmas Mammories!

 Memories of recent Days!

My Brother has bought his Son's each a G Gordon Liddy calendar. Since the Liberals have all but ruined auto parts stores giving out girly calendars, G Gordon each year drives the Liberals crazy with his calendar. It always features scantily clad females holding guns.

Last Night Hot Corey and I were up till 2 making Christmas goodies. We ain't queer for each other just queer for the Season. I meant to start earlier in the Day but the Girls wanted to do our annual Christmas picnic which consist of a Happy Meal eaten at the City Marina on the Bay looking at the decorations. I started this small event when they were toddlers and now they wouldn't think of a Christmas without it. Memories can be made with even the smallest of things. Hot Corey couldn't break free in time to go and I could not get up with Dr Johnny to invite him. He is alone as usual at Christmas and his Mother having just died and my Nephews out of town I know he must be lonely. He asked me Wednesday to go with him to Grannies Homecooking Buffet. We went two Saturdays ago the Day before his Mother passed away. I wanted to go Wednesday with him but had many Home activities to attend to for the Brats.

Hot Corey has recorded solo some great Holiday tunes and he sent them to me. Sadly too late for your Christmas cd's. He went with me to the only grocery store left in town that was around when I was a kid. It had a nice Holiday Homey feel and we looked like two queers prancing around and me asking him things like "Do we have plenty of ice at Home?". We tried to decide which molasses to get for the German spice cookies. There was Briar Rabbit brand made in New Joisey that was in a glass jar. I Love glass jars. The other brand was from Michigan where Hot Coreys Mother is from. It was called 'Slow As Molasses'. We decided on that one because of the name. This store had no local Southern made molasses. Had a time explaining to Hot Corey what Molasses were. We also finally found some 'Gulf Wax' (Parafin for candy making) at this store after checking a half dozen places the last few days.

In this store we looked at all the festive goodies. They had a jar of blue sugar. I asked if he thought we could use it to coat the candy strawberries instead of the red and green sugar that would be 3 bucks a jar. He said probably not butt I bought the 25 cent jar of blue anyway and we ended up dipping half the strawberries in the blue.

He saw Mincemeat and I had to explain to him what mincemeat was. We found the flavored Christmas Coffee mate's (Peppermint Mocha and Gingerbread). Did not see the Egg Nog Coffee Mate my oldest Brat saw on tv. Also have seen no raisins on the stem my Parents generation enjoyed. Guess those things died with their generation as the youngsters don't want raisins they want Snicker bars. Also have not seen any pomegranites. This store is in the Cove area, the old rich part of town and the prices reflect that. I forgot to get nutmeg earlier and they wanted 6 bucks for a jar of nutmeg. Only needed a half a teaspoon of it so I bought it.

I am jumping back and forth with the details of yesterdays activities, butt that is my way it seems. About 10:30 last night I was already 3 hours behind schuedule as I wanted to start baking in the mid afternoon butt did not start till 6 or so. I wanted bad to be on the computer IM'ing you folks but then I would have got nothing done. I shoulda baked a Week or two ago but the oldest Brat wanted me to wait till her sweety got here from Anahiem. Her and her Mother went to pick him up in Pensacola Wednesday. It was cold when he got off the plane in Pensacola after leaving warm Californy and a stop over in warm Houston. It was a few hundred dollars cheaper for him to fly into Pensacola (100 miles from here) than to fly into our airport.

Anyway, at 10;30 last night I was getting ready to make the German spice cookies. I read that I needed baking powder and just knew I had some. I could not find it so with the oven pre heated I drove to the next block to borrow some from the Mother in law. Her car was gone and her lights were off. The decorations were on though which was nice. So having no 'Borrow a Cup of Sugar' type neighbors I took a chance on the closest convenience store. They had baking soda but no baking powder.

So I drove 4 miles to K- Mart and they had none, just soda. Then I went next door to the drug store and they only had soda. So I drove 3 more miles to the big grocery store. I got the powder, more choclate morsels and a box of soda as I knew it would be worth the 99 cents if I found out I needed it later. Good thing too as when I got Home and looked at the recipe, someone in my handwriting had changed the word powder to soda. I probably had baking soda there and the first store I went to on the corner had baking soda. Cost me an hour for misreading the recipe. And I couldn't get anyone at the house to listen to my story and feel bad for me. The oldest and her Beau were watching some Cops show, Hot Corey was at the computer admiring his songs and the Youngest was in her room singing to a song and could not hear me.

Pooter the Perfect Christmas puppy (as the oldest had gave the dog that title) watched me bake and grabbed up each morsel dropped. He was especially fond of the peanut butter candy. Hot Corey is in Love with Ringo's Christmas cd since I intro'd it to him last Chrsitmas. He listens to it all year long. We listened to it and Christmas radio and such while we baked. I showed Hot Corey how to melt chocolate and parifin and dip the peanut butter balls in it with toothpicks and put it on wax paper to set and cool. He said he used to make cookies with his Granny but she tells him he is too old. Then he caught her making cookies with his ex girlfriend who oddly enough lives with his Granny and tends to her. Hot Corey was hurt by this.

Continued as I type this between Christmas Customers!

Well I'm finally up and at it again. Feel like I got hit in the head with a sledge hammer, but I am managing to get a few last minute things done. Been listening to the Christmas cd's you sent and laughing too. Thanks for cheering me up.

Didn't get the photo's of Twister, Steve A and myself in speedo's back in time so the cd's, though not nearly as funny at the photos, will have to suffice!
