A day at work with Maggie heavy on my mind!

As I sit here with a cup of coffee with blueberry cobbler coffee mate in it, Maggie is heavy on my mind. We always talked about having cofffee on her front porch looking at the mountains. We talked about Walter Brennan in the movie 'The Far Country'. He loved his coffee in this old cowboy flick. He and pal Jimmy Stewarts dream was to make enough money in the gold mines to go West to Utah and buy a ranch. Walter had a bell he was going to hang on the front door so he would know when friends had arrived so he could put on a pot of coffee. I always threatened to send Maggie a bell, but being the King procrastinator I have yet to do it. Maggie would probably like the blueberry cobbler coffee mate or at least be proud I did like it.

Getting in the car after 11 or so hours at work, I had Maggie on my mind as I have all day and all Week. I got in the car and turned the air conditioner on cold enough to hang meat. I had a Weird Al faves cassette playing but was not listening as I was doing some heavy thinking. And yes smoke came out my ears. I took a Jolt Red Eye soda out of the cooler where the glass bottle had been sitting in ice all day. I lit a Winchester cigar and headed for the Homefront.

I rectum I should start with the earlier part of the day. Not so interesting except to give a glimpse of a day in the life at work for a middle aged white boy with a gut and no money. I got up, made coffee, read the 3 postings made ovenight here, got dressed, filled my ice chest, no coffee as my thermos needs a new washer. Got dressed (not again, just in sections. A sock or two, make coffee, then trousers and so forth. I left and went to pick up my rotund co-worker who makes me look like a Hot Corey type aids patient. My co-worker is cool but is moving to Alabama next Week, just as my last co-worker did. My co-workers name is Jeffrey but he says the Ladies call him "Jiffy", so guess what I call him!

We got to work and our first duty each Morn is to empty the trash cans in the orfice and see what all fancy take out food Heather and the others in the office had the day before. (Nephew is talking to me on instant messager as I write this and I am losing my enthusiasm to write). We were then given work orders for carts to deliver. We had to ut some together during the day so we decided to do so first thing while the touch of Fall from a cold front was still in the early part of day. Then the mechanic came out and said the Boss Lady wanted one of us to pick up trash around the yard as there is a big inspection Monday. So I grabbed the tongs and a can and did that while Jiffy continued to put together toter carts.

After I finished the trash pick up, the Boss Lady sent me on my least fave duty, slinging in a swazy rich trailer park. The garbage cans are metal and all are underground. I can hardly bend over to tie my shoes and they send me to do this. I was with another slinger and my cousin was driving the truck. We finished that and went back to delivering carts and got a ASAP call from the Boss to go to the shop and get the spare doo doo truck pronto. I got there and the mechanic was trying to get it started and everyone was in a tizzy. He got it going and I scooted to where a garbage truck had flipped into a ditch. The two bosses, two mechanics, police, firemen, a wrecker and such were there and I felt like Batman when they all waved me in to save the day.

My fellow poo truck worker was trhere with his truck and had filled it already with the oil and hydraulic fluid that had spilled in the ditch. Then Boss lady told me to take the full poop truck to Freeport to dump it. I stopped at the shop and rob and got a lage Mr Pibb with ice, a bag of barbeque tater chips and two hot doggies. I dropped one hot dog trying to get in the truck. I also bought some cigars for the trip. I took the two lane route and of cousre white women on cell phones in SUV's and white males in pick up trucks rode my arsethe whole way no matter how fast I went. I got to Freeport and all the dumping tanks were full and no one there to tell me what to do with the doo. After a coupla hours and many phone calls someone finally made a decision and I was on my way. After having to climb up on the truck to refill it with water. As I am sore and tired of writing I will just say I got back to town, helped Tony finish his doo doo route and now I am back in the air conditioned car with the Ice Cold Jolt Red Eye and Weird Al singing 'The Biggest ball of twine in Minnesota'! Maggie still on my mind

At the first red light some blacks from a Church had buckets and taking donations. I dug out a George and was ready to give, but my man was on his cellular telephone and not doing his duty. So the dollar I was going to give for 'Sister Lucindas bunion operation and fish fry' stayed mine. I then passed a beer truck who was trying to change into my lane and had his blinker on. I slowed to let him over and then saw in mirror he was gabbing on his cellualr phone, so I sped up and went on. Passed a white girl with a white baby and thought how odd it looked. Went by for cigars and the clerk was complaining about being old in her 30s. She stretched and I saw stretch marks. Think most have them as I am sure I have many. Steve A and I are the kings of ear hair, no Lovin and bunions. Least he has been nude with a female in this century!

It was too late to do laundry so I have that chore to look forward to this Weekend. Also hpe to do a touch of yardwork. with Maggie and Ash heavy on my mind!

Parts of that piece are poetry, old man.

I've only been telling you forever that you should endeavor to write more, and write more often. That only proves my point. You've got a poet's soul, but you're too afraid to let it show. Damn your intractableness.
