If Sweet Home Obama wins then it's flag waving time for the blacks of this country who will view this, not as healing and making the nation stronger, but as a victory over 'Whitey' the way O.J.'s aquital was cheered.  What I fear most is that 'whitey' will eventually get fed up with the crap he's had the eat the past 30 years and a sleeping giant will rise. If Obama introduces legislation for reperations and it passes. There will be a war. So much for healing the nation.nondisclosed_email@example.com (flux)Tue, 04 Nov 2008 21:03:05 +0000 Re: They're holdin' an election! And while I voted for my Republican Senator I voted for a Democrat for the House (he's the better candidate) and I did not vote McCain. Boys I refuse to swear loyalty to any Party; I'm not a Democrat and I'm not a Republican; I am an American and that's that. And to quote my man Leonard Pitts from his column of yesterday: "Here comes Barack Obama wanting to be president. He has an economic plan, sure. He has a health care plan, yes. He has a promise to end the war in Irag, fine. Those are important, certainly. But when I look at this guy and I reflect on the hate that I see in my country, the lack of purpose that I see in my country, the division and fear that I see in my country, those other concerns seem secondary. You know what I hope Barack Obama is? I hope he is reconciliation...And the beginning of something new." ("Something New" - wasn't that a Beatles album?) I don't know about you all, but lately I've been getting my *ss kicked and handed to me all too often. And I know that some of you have too because I read what you guys write on here. Reconciliation sounds pretty d*mn good to me right now. Ed and Ratman and PC and Tkitna and Waldo and Twistie and LL and Toppings and Steve A and all you good people I hope you'll agree and come down and join me. I'm off for the night to watch those returns. By the time I get here tomorrow chances are somebody will have been named the next President of the United States. Whoever it is, I'm ready to get behind that guy to help make this world a better place. I'll look for each of you there. Until then - Tomnondisclosed_email@example.com (tom51)Tue, 04 Nov 2008 20:15:54 +0000 Re: They're holdin' an election! He has that look of someone who actually believss he's better than anyone around him. There is no sense of humility in him at all. The difference I see between he and McCain is that McCain wants and is asking us to let him work for us. Obama just flat out says he's the savior. I think he'll win. What then ? And I just got done making my 3rd and final donation of the year to my incumbent Republican Senator. The dude sits on the Committee for Indian Affairs and he's done a Hell of a job there so he deserves another term. He's locked in a nasty re-election race that's down to the wire and he's pleading with us constituents tonight to send him more money to keep on buying airtime all the way through to tomorrow night. That's how close this one is. So Ed quit stewing; join me and put your money where your mouth is and send some dough to Gordon Smith tonight! 'Trust' was his motto. Funny....nobody would ride in his plane. Who's getting fooled ? Yeah, and they're holdin' it tomorrrow!!! And nope, I hadn't heard nuthin' about it either up until this morning when I saw some guy talking about it on the news. Seems there's an African American guy with what they call "fresh ideas" running against this angry old geezer who's still p*ssed off at the world because Bush ran over his *ss with a steamroller 8 years ago and yet he couldn't find the cajones within himself to stand up to the Bush machine 4 years ago when John Kerry offered him the veep so instead he kowtowed to Rove and crew when they promised the presidency to him for 2008 (and yes, they did have the b*lls to presume that the presidency was theirs to promise at will) and so back then the geezer told Kerry no on the veep offer, preventing what would have been the best ticket to appear on a presidential ballot since 1984. So now that they can't have it anymore the Bush machine has passed off an unobstructed run at the presidency to that old old man, along with an unending war, the worst economy since the great depression, and the biggest of big governments ever created by man. Hmmm.... An African American with fresh ideas running against an angry geezer with all of that standing behind him... Hmmm... well guess what - in those immortal words from that greatest of movies: "Today, Pepperland turns BLUE! That's right, so read it and weep all you poor suckers who voted for Bush in 2004 'cuz this is what you created. And guess what, gays are getting married today and abortion is still legal. Seems those issues didn't really matter in the end... So come on down to the polls with me tomorrow and vote!!!! And no, I ain't gonna tell you who to vote for, but I am gonna say, with all my heart, PLEASE, don't get fooled again!!!!!!!nondisclosed_email@example.com (tom51)Mon, 03 Nov 2008 14:23:09 +0000
